I work with passion and pleasure at Vilans on improving care for older adults in the Netherlands. I do this from my role as a researcher and expert on the theme of shared decision-making. In 2020, I obtained my PhD with the dissertation “Shifting from ‘What is the matter?’ to ‘What matters to you?’ Shared decision making for older adults with multiple conditions and their informal caregivers.” I am now a doctor/nurse - and proud of it!

Together with older adults, nurses, geriatricians, general practitioners, and other professionals in elderly care, I contribute to initiating a movement in the Netherlands to make decisions with older people rather than about them.
