Collect data
Laatst bijgewerkt op: 19-03-2026
This step involves collecting data as specified in the measurement plan. This means that for each hypothesis, you should apply the selected method, collect data from the appropriate data sources, and work in accordance with the agreed procedures.
Continue to monitor
It is important to regularly check during data collection whether the approach still aligns with practice. Does the measurement plan work as intended? Is the information available as anticipated?
For example, it may become apparent that a measurement tool does not function as expected, participants are difficult to recruit, or data collection takes more time than expected. In such cases, you can adjust the measurement plan. It is not a problem if the measurement plan changes during the process, as long as the changes are well substantiated and documented transparently.
Check your data
Do not wait until the end of data collection to check the quality of your data. By conducting interim checks, you can, for example, assess whether:
- the data are complete;
- all relevant participant groups are sufficiently represented;
- data saturation has been reached.
These checks help to make adjustments where necessary and prevent unexpected surprises at a later stage.
